Augustin Jianu is a Romanian entrepreneur with an extensive background in software development, cybersecurity and policymaking. He has previously served as minister of communications and information society in the Government of Romania.
Jianu is a certified cybersecurity expert and served as director general of CERT-RO between 2014 and 2016. In this capacity he was part of the ENISA management board (European Union Agency for Network and Information Security).
He started work in public office in 2012 as counselor to the minister for information society, and was involved in projects such as the development of e-Government systems and services, broadband internet infrastructure and international cooperation. He founded i-SYS Ltd., delivering software development services for the healthcare industry, stepping out of the company in 2012 when he was appointed to public office.
He holds a bachelor of engineering in applied computer science, having in-depth knowledge of advanced algorithms, data structures and automated systems theory.
